The objective of the #Belike series is to inspire children with appropriate role models. We believe real life stories are a strong point of influence for children, especially if the story involves someone like Elon Musk.

About Elon Musk:

Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla, an electric car company. He was one of the early investors in the company and later progressed to CEO. He is widely known for his space exploits, ever since he founded SpaceX, an aerospace transportation services company. He is also known as an entrepreneur and an industrial engineer. He was raised in Pretoria, Africa, born to a South African father and Canadian mother. Musk was an awkward, introverted child and was constantly bullied at school. It was obvious he had an acumen for business and technology at an early age.

Start early

Only at the age of 12, he developed the code for a BASIC-based video game and sold it for about $500.

He dropped out of Stanford University after two days to pursue a business career. It was very early in his career that he founded, an online bank which merged with Confinity in 2000. This company had launched PayPal and was subsequently bought by eBay for $1.5 billion.

Pursue your dreams relentlessly

After Musk became involved with a non-profit called Mars Society, he got inspired to take a trip to Mars. After several failed attempts at acquiring resources, Musk decided to start his own company that could build rockets. That’s how the journey of SpaceX began, of which he is CEO and lead designer. The company is an aerospace manufacturer and is a space transport services company. From the year 2006 to 2008 SpaceX made several failed attempts launching into space. The company received financial funding from NASA for 12 flights into space. In 2015, having achieved its goal of reusable rockets, SpaceX successfully launched Falcon 9.

Constantly Innovate

In the year 2018, he was ranked 25th on the Forbes list of ‘The World’s Most Powerful People.’ And was also ranked joint-first on the Forbes list of the Most Innovative Leader of 2019. In the first week of January 2021, Musk became the richest person in the world, post the pandemic. In 2008 Tesla built its first electric sports car called Roadster. By March 2020, it became the world’s best-selling electric car. In 2006, he helped create SolarCity, a solar energy services company. In 2015, he co-founded OpenAI, a non- profit research company that aims to promote friendly artificial intelligence. In 2016, he co-founded Neuralink, a neurotechnology company focused on developing brain-computer interfaces.

Dream big and reach for the stars

In May 2020, Elon Musk’s SpaceX made history by launching the first crewed mission to space by a private company. It was the first such mission since 2011 and was a crucial mission as it was sent with a specific purpose of sending humans to space and colonizing Mars. With innumerable innovations and cutting-edge scientific developments under his radar, Elon Musk has now shifted his interest to India as well. After Tesla made its IPO in 2010, it reached a market capitalisation of $1 trillion in 2021.
