CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY By: Roald Dhal This story is about a poor boy named Charlie Bucket, who lives with his maternal grandparents grandpa George and grandma Georgina and his paternal grandparents grandpa Joe and grandma Josephine and of course his parents Mr. and Mrs. Bucket. They all live in a small hut at the edge of the city in which the largest chocolate factory is there which is owned by the best chocolate maker Mr. Willy Wonka. Mr. Bucket works in a toothpaste factory and earns enough money to feed the family. Grandpa Joe tells Charlie stories of Willy Wonka’s inventions as he once worked there. He told Charlie that Willy Wonka closed the factory as there were spies of other factories who came to steel the recipes. One day it came in news that Mr. Willy Wonka has invited 5 children to his chocolate factory by hiding 5 golden tickets in random bars and whoever gets the golden ticket which was there below the rapper of 5 common chocolates will be allowed to enter the factory. The first ticket was found by Augustus Gloop a greedy boy, the second was found by Verruca Salt a spoilt girl, the third was found by Violet Beauregard a gum chewer and 4th by Mike Teavee a boy who is addicted to gadgets and the 5th is found by Charlie. 1st Feb was the day of visiting the factory and earning prices and it’s the day where the adventures begin. Not to be forgotten here to mention that Mr. Willy Wonka had also stated that whoever is the winner among the 5 kids will get a reward which would be beyond his or her imagination. I would rate this book 10/10 as it is interesting and funny. I like it as it shows how a poor boy Charlie never looses hope of any thing and his effort is shown in the end.
